Why Work at PolySystems_
At PolySystems, you will collaborate with a team of motivated individuals from departments across the company, including our actuarial consulting team, software development and testing, programming, production services, and senior management. In this dynamic and challenging work environment, individuals are rewarded with a strong sense of project ownership from developing new product specifications to delivering tailored results to clients.
PolySystems also encourages its employees to continuously engage in professional development. Our actuarial study program supports the education of actuarial students to ASA and FSA designations while experienced actuaries can pursue a variety of projects that correspond to their specialized areas of interest.
At PolySystems, we expect individuals to demonstrate a strong work ethic, but we also promote a positive work-life balance through a variety of benefits. At PolySystems, we invest in our employees’ long-term well-being by offering a 401k with a competitive matching contribution, long term disability, medical and dental insurance, and a flexible spending account.
The best thing about working at PolySystems is the experience level of the long term staff. As a newer employee, I never have to look far to find someone who can explain to me how a software feature works or has had a similar client experience. This willingness to collaborate and share information allows me to apply the knowledge to my client’s circumstances so I can offer them the best support possible.
PolySystems was the best career move I could have made! My work is fulfilling because I am part of a team and I see how my work contributes to bigger company goals. People here want to help and to see you succeed, which may not happen at larger companies.
As a graduate from UIC with a Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Engineering, PolySystems hired me to program and test the screen system software. My job responsibilities quickly expanded, and I wanted to increase my understanding of the valuation, projection, and reporting aspects of the software. PolySystems offers a great program to assist employees in achieving their ASA and FSA credentials. With determination and support, I am now on track to earn my ASA. This accomplishment will surely open more opportunities and allow me to contribute to the valuation and projection areas. Throughout my 12 years at PolySystems, I have always found the work to be engaging and interesting. Enhancements are continuously being made to all areas of the software, so there are always new challenges and learning opportunities.
PolySystems is the perfect place for a motivated actuary or actuarial student. Upon graduating from college, I took a position as a junior high math teacher. After three years of teaching, I applied at PolySystems and was hired with no actuarial experience or exams. PolySystems took a chance when they hired me, but I gained a lot of on-the-job actuarial knowledge by collaborating with our experienced actuaries. What makes PolySystems an outstanding workplace is the company culture, variety of projects, a reasonable work/life balance, and their support of the exam system for students and continuing education for seasoned actuaries.
We are a forward thinking company. PolySystems consistently monitors the actuarial landscape and supports emerging actuarial practices on the day they become effective. Staying on the cutting edge allows the motivated actuary to continue to develop in their career. PolySystems has helped me to achieve many of my professional goals in the almost 20 years I have been employed here.
