Grid Processing
GridMaster
GridMaster is PolySystems' complete, general-purpose grid computing solution that optimizes the performance of computationally intensive programs and dramatically reduces run times.
Here is how GridMaster works:
- Spreads the work involved in calculation-intensive programs across the many separate machines on the PolySystems' grid;
- Consists of a server-based host program and a Windows Service that runs on each of the separate machines that make up the grid;
- Dramatically reduces run times. For example, a multiple scenario analysis that took 9+ days on a single machine, ran in 7 hours on the grid!
In addition to dramatically reducing run times, GridMaster provides three other key benefits:
- Scalability. GridMaster can provide nearly linear improvement in run times, over a wide range of hardware, for calculation-intensive programs;
- Efficiency. GridMaster provides dynamic load balancing ensuring that faster processors on the grid are automatically assigned more work than slower processors;
- Reliability. GridMaster monitors the progress of each task and if a particular processor or network connection has failed, the work will be automatically reassigned. Based upon restrictions set by you, GridMaster can stop assigning work to any machine that continues to fail.
- Flexibility. You have control over how the work is divided, grid monitoring frequency, and the selection of machines and/or processors to use for each run.
Finally, GridMaster can utilize both dedicated grid machines
as well as the excess capacity of shared, general-purpose
machines already on your network. Using that excess capacity can
deliver the power of a grid at little or no additional hardware
cost. To view an excerpt from our system manual,

Our Microsoft
Partnership
PolySystems development team is currently working to
integrate the Windows HPC Server 2008 technology with
our existing GridMaster computing solution. Our adoption of Windows HPC Server 2008 will provide you with a number of
benefits including:
- Integration of PolySystems GridMaster into the Windows
systems
management environment; - Integration of User Credentials for our GridMaster solution with Active Directory for enhanced security;
- Reduction in implementation costs for the Windows HPC Server 2008 operating system in comparison to other Windows Server implementation options.
